Frequently Asked Questions:
Who do you sell your products to?
We sell our products to everyone, including the general public. A lot of our customers are professional landscapers, commercial contractors and everyone from the seasoned gardener to the first time home owner.
How do you sell your landscaping and garden products?
If you are picking up the material, it is sold by the cubic yard, ½ cubic yard, or you can fill blue or yellow recycling boxes, five gallon pails or any other container you bring. (We do not supply containers you must bring your own.) In the City limits we can deliver anywhere from 1 cubic yard up to 6 cubic yards depending on the material. Out of town we can deliver as much as 25 cubic yards.
How much is a cubic yard and how do I know how much material I will need?
A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet or 3 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet. If you would like to cover an area 2” deep you can cover an area 160 square feet. If you are not sure we can calculate for you how much you might need. Just supply us with the length and width in feet and the depth in inches. Often we can calculate it quickly while you are still on the phone or in the office.
Is it cheaper to buy my material in bulk from you or from other retailers by the bag?
It is by far cheaper. For example it would take 13.5 (2 cu ft/bag) to equal a cubic yard. If you purchase a cubic yard of natural wood mulch (hardwood or cedar) tax included would cost $45.00 total. If a bag cost approximately $9.00 tax included that would cost $121.50. Your savings would be somewhere about $76.50 by buying in bulk. Plus you have no plastic bags to landfill. The mark up from bulk to bags for the same quantity is anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 times more in price.
PICKUP:
How can I pick up materials?
If you have a pick up (with no cap) or a trailer we will load you with our loader. You can haul either a full yard or half yard which we load with our loader bucket. If you have a truck with a cap or a van you can put a tarp in and shovel it in or you can also shovel it into containers that fit into cars and the trunk. If you need a full or half yard we can make a pile on the ground and you can haul it in a couple of trips.
I’m worried about hauling it in my truck.
Our experienced operators will not overload your vehicle and have loaded many types of vehicles successfully over more than the last 25 years.
Do I need a tarp?
If you want to keep your truck box clean or make it easier to unload you can line the box of your truck with a tarp. It is also wise to have a tarp to cover your load. It is your responsibility to ensure that your load is safe and secure. Some materials are fine to level below the sides because they are heavy enough but other products that are light such as wood mulch have a tendency to blow out especially on the highways.
DELIVERY:
How do you book deliveries?
We set specific delivery times, that way you don’t have to wait around all day for your load to show up. We book deliveries within a 2 hour time frame during our hours of operation that is convenient for you. Our long hours and Saturday allows a lot of flexibility to book and to fit into your busy schedule and around your work schedule. If it is pouring rain we will call ahead of time and reschedule for the next available time. Someone has to be there to show the driver where you want the material dumped and pay the driver, this way you can call in your order and you do not have to make an extra trip to the office. It’s that easy. We try to get your delivery booking as soon as possible. We try to get it out that day or the next, but it is a good idea to book as soon as possible because long weekends and planting season book up quickly.
When having material delivered, am I able to have it dumped where I want it?
The size of our 2 ton dump truck combined with our experienced drivers allows us to satisfy most of our customers. However there are some restrictions that make it impossible such as house eaves, overhead wires, clotheslines, trees and branches, steep inclines, yard too soft, etc. In these cases we have to dump it in an alternative location, for example a front lawn or on a tarp in the driveway.
